CECME ANNUAL EVENT "ENERGY AND CLIMATE FUTURES: GREEN INDUSTRIAL POLICIES IN A FRAGMENTED WORLD"
The 2023 edition of the Annual event of the Spanish Committee of the World Energy Council (CECME), entitled "ENERGY AND CLIMATE FUTURES: GREEN INDUSTRIAL POLICIES IN A FRAGMENTED WORLD", took place on November 7th in Madrid in a face-to-face format.
It was organised by CECME and the Spanish Energy Club (ENERCLUB), with the sponsorship of Cepsa and the collaboration of the Elcano Royal Institute.
For this edition, the common thread was related to the green industrial policies launched in recent years (such as the European Commission's Green Deal Industrial Plan, the Inflation Reduction Act in the USA or the policies in China), and the new panorama generated around them. A panorama that opens up numerous uncertainties related to their impact on industries on both sides of the Atlantic, climate objectives, geopolitics, or international and trade relations, which were analysed at the event. Once again this year, the focus was also placed on the United Nations Climate Change Conference, held from 30 November to 13 December 2023 in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), the COP28.
The programme included an inaugural session with the participation of Ana Paula Marques, Chair of CECME; Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Cepsa; José Juan Ruiz, President of the Elcano Royal Institute, and Mario Ruiz-Tagle, President of the Spanish Energy Club. Two plenary sessions and a round table were also held, with representatives and experts from various institutions and organisations, together with CECME members (Cepsa, Edp, Enagas, Endesa, Iberdrola, Naturgy, Repsol, Sedigas and TotalEnergies), who also had the opportunity to express their point of view on the topics analysed through a video prepared for the occasion.
