ANNUAL EVENT: “ENERGY AND GLOBAL GOVERNANCE: A TRANSFORMING DUALITY”

The event was characterised by its dynamic and interactive format and international subject-matter. It was organised by the CECME and the Spanish Energy Club, and once more was assisted by the collaboration of Real Instituto Elcano and the sponsorship of KPMG and Repsol.

The Opening Session was attended by the organisers and sponsors, as well as by the Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria López. The subsequent plenary session included the participation of Marie José Nadeau, Secretary General of Hydro Quebec and Chair of the World Energy Council since her appointment in October. Through a dialogue/interview with Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri, President of CECME, she shared her views about the main issues in the global energy panorama, as well as the objectives and activities in the new era for the WEC under her leadership.

Afterwards, two roundtables were held dealing with two subjects that require a specific analysis from a global perspective: “Unconventional resources: A change in the rules of the geostrategic game?” and “The multilateral framework of climate change: implications for global governance”.

ANNUAL EVENT “FUTURE ENERGY CHALLENGES: GLOBAL AND EUROPEAN OUTLOOK”

The event was organised by the CECME and the Spanish Energy Club, and once more was assisted by the collaboration of Real Instituto Elcano and the sponsorship of KPMG and Repsol.

The event took place at the Campus Repsol auditorium in Madrid and it was attended by more than 300 professionals coming from the Spanish energy sector.

It was stated that the energy challenges that the world must face, and concretely in Europe, demanded, among other measures, urgent and ambitious decisions from the politics and the industry. On the other hand, two main matters were also analyzed from an international perspective: the nature of different energy scenarios; and the impact of the European energy and climate policy in the business competitiveness.
